It's Izzy!

Saturday evening we got a puppy! She is a West Highland Terrier, a breed of dog that I have always wanted and just as sweet and loving as she can be! She is 11 months-old, so we don't have to deal with the difficult puppy stuff that we really don't have time for right now.
The boys are completely in love with her already and the second one of them sits down, she will jump up into their lap, so it's mutual.

She is such a princess and we are spoiling her dreadfully already. She's quite afraid of Aly, but Rusty is her pal - she is smaller than either of the cats. She keeps Daisy right in line and runs around between Daisy's legs since she is so much smaller!!
In the past, we have not allowed any dog on the furniture, but as you can see, Izzy is breaking all the rules and we just love to snuggle with her too much to fuss...

Family Reunion

Yesterday afternoon we drove down to the farm where my mother and her sister grew up. Way back when they were young, (Hee! Hee!!) their cousins would come up from New York and Massachusetts to spend time each summer at 'The Farm'. The last Saturday in July is now the day for our annual family reunion and members come from all over the country to attend. (Here my blog posts from 2007 & 2008.) It's always so great to see everyone!
Each year we celebrate the milestones in our lives with a yummy cake....
and ice cream!
My niece (center) especially loves to see her girl cousins!
Another family tradition is the 'Egg Toss' and 'Egg in a Spoon Race'. Always hilarious!
Those sweeping fields are great for flying airplanes, but the wind was a bit too strong this year, so they crashed and burned.
The boys bounced so much on the pogo stick that we thought they were going to pass out from heat stroke! Even Dad took a turn!!
Here's the crew heading down the hill, up the road, and through the woods on their pilgrimage to the family cemetery. The children are always interested in hearing more stories about their ancestors. We won't let them forget...
See you next year!
