Family Reunion

Yesterday afternoon we drove down to the farm where my mother and her sister grew up. Way back when they were young, (Hee! Hee!!) their cousins would come up from New York and Massachusetts to spend time each summer at 'The Farm'. The last Saturday in July is now the day for our annual family reunion and members come from all over the country to attend. (Here my blog posts from 2007 & 2008.) It's always so great to see everyone!
Each year we celebrate the milestones in our lives with a yummy cake....
and ice cream!
My niece (center) especially loves to see her girl cousins!
Another family tradition is the 'Egg Toss' and 'Egg in a Spoon Race'. Always hilarious!
Those sweeping fields are great for flying airplanes, but the wind was a bit too strong this year, so they crashed and burned.
The boys bounced so much on the pogo stick that we thought they were going to pass out from heat stroke! Even Dad took a turn!!
Here's the crew heading down the hill, up the road, and through the woods on their pilgrimage to the family cemetery. The children are always interested in hearing more stories about their ancestors. We won't let them forget...
See you next year!

More Mini Fun

We had lots of family here today to celebrate Dad's birthday. Not that he felt much like celebrating #39, but at least we had a good time visiting! The minis got a lot of attention.

Our oldest showed 'em all how it was done, and then almost everyone took at turn at the lines!

BJ thought it was so exciting and tore around their pen like a wild thing! Look at him jump!!

He is too little to drive, but my nephew still got to take a ride.

Look at that grin on Grammie's face!! And away she goes...

Our youngest figured that he could drive her anytime, but the fish might be biting, so he headed for the brook...
Nice brook trout!!
Many, many thanks to my sister-in-law for taking these great photos!

Minis!

A friend of mine needed a temporary home for her mini horses. Since our older son has always wanted minis, I agreed to take them for a couple of years. If he does well with them, we'll look into getting him some of his own later on. For now, the boys are lovin' them!!
Grooming Sierra, the mare.
BJ, the gelding, is Sierra's companion and just a really loving pet. He appreciates a lot of attention!

Our oldest has learned to harness and drive Sierra. He doesn't like to put her tail through the crupper though - it's yucky!
Look, Mom! I'm a horse!!
Heading off for his first drive...What FUN!!
Little Brother gives it a try...
Did you notice the dogs in the middle of everything? They really didn't know what to think of those horses at first. It was wicked funny!!
